Highlighted Work
Roxanne is an ecologist-turned-journalist and science communicator. She enjoys covering environmental solutions and community action. She also loves a good adventure — on and off the page.
Before her career in journalism, Roxanne explored the outdoors as a sea turtle monitor in Panama, a guide and naturalist in Alaska and a wrangler in New Mexico. She completed her master’s degree in science communication and journalism at the University of California, Santa Cruz, in 2023.
She has since worked as an intern on the Indigenous news desk at Mongabay and as a freelance contributor to local and national publications. Roxanne spent the past two years as an editorial fellow with Atlas Obscura, filling her days with writing, editing and podcasting.
Today, Roxanne works as a freelance writer telling tales of scientific discovery, Arctic adventures and community action. She is also growing her portfolio in photography, videography and audio production.
